OmniPay, the “top” E-Gold exchanger will temporarily stop out-exchanges from May 24th, 2007 to June 18th, 2007.
They are in the process of moving all their effectives to OmniPay Africa because of all the problems E-Gold has with the U.S. government.
Will this be good or bad? I think this is very good news, and my friend Jose at NoPonzi thinks it’s good news too. By moving their business to Africa, the U.S. government will have to stop putting their nose in their business.
First of all, sorry for the lack of updates recently. I’m in my final exams but I’m finishing tomorrow so I should be active again soon.
Some news about the E-Gold situation:
You can read the latest PDF where E-Gold defend themselves (Special thanks to Vertoro for providing the public version). I must admit that it is really well done and it provides powerful arguments.
Many exchangers have got their account seized. The question is: Is E-Gold still working? In short, yes they are. Even if E-Gold would close down, you would still be able to do an “out-exchange” before that happens, so I suggest that you do not panic.
While some programs have stopped accepting E-Gold, most programs continues to accept it and you can still use it on various websites. Marketiva told me that we can still deposit and withdraw with E-Gold without any problems for now, so I’m going to transfer my funds there soon.
It seems that the U.S. government has seized E-Gold accounts of big exchanger companies working with U.S. clients. They have also seized the accounts of 1mdc.
You can read more information (and comments) on these two blogs:
I suggest you read this nice post from Sharon at NoBS Hyip about E-Gold giving away information to authorities and the future of our favorite E-Currency:
“All this talk about e-currency transmissions made me think about a couple of articles I read the other day. They concern e-gold. Both are extremely well written, researched and credible. The second article is in 3 parts.
